Get Out of the Fog

How I Got Out of the Fog and the First Steps that Got Me There.

Get out of the Fog and find your new life
The fog is beautiful in nature, but not when it comes to where you wanted to live your life as a woman.

While taking my morning walk yesterday, I couldn’t resist taking this photo. It was a dreary day, as you can see. And some, I know, would have decided to skip it and go on with whatever they wanted for the rest of their day. I could have done the same.

But I’d made a commitment to myself and my own self-care that included exercise. So there I was hat, gloves, and jacket in the chilly air.

We live on a golf course that extends all the way to the ocean. I looked out to the foggy scenery. And I started smiling. It reminded me of difficult times, stuck in the confusion of what I want next in my life, and the internal knowing that being in a fog can be a good thing.

For my own past history, I started thinking about my own struggles over the years, the many times I was stuck, and the symbolism of the foggy day brought back when I was indeed stuck. And I didn’t know where to turn for help.

There were times when I felt fearful and had no control over my life. I regretted the decisions I made and knew they were wrong for me but didn’t know how to fix them. When I was lost in my career, that didn’t serve me, and I longed for a life that would fit my passions.

Yes, I know what it’s like to be stuck in the fog of my life.

I knew there had to be something more. I knew that if I could just start taking action, one thing at a time, I could find my place in the world and my own happiness in it.

It was a process…and one thing by one thing, I made my list to get unstuck.

If my foggy picture above is relatable for you, a friend, or a family member, and you know that your life can be happier, more passionate, and directed to a better place, I’m here to tell you that you can make that happen.

Take Your Time-

Spend time just being…letting ideas show up…what did you do as a child that you loved? Is there a place for this now?

Maybe you will create an edited version of what you loved doing then, but still rewarding.

What do you need to know or find out about yourself to get clear on your new direction? What will you need to let go of, and what will you keep?

What will you create new?

Define Balance.

What is your personal definition of balance?

Mine is if I want to work, and it excites me and makes me happy…I am balanced. I know what works for me, and I know when to step back to renew.

Set Your Strategy- Edit, and Re-set.

Your first strategy is a draft, but it’s a place to start. Then, keep adjusting it until the fit is just right for you.

Don’t try it alone:

Bring people around you for guidance and feedback,

People who can suggest new ideas for you that you might not have thought about.

It’s an exciting time in your life. This is YOUR time. Even if you have responsibilities that get in your way for re-creation, a small step toward your future life can still be possible.
