It Will Show Up for You …Getting Clear on Your Passion- Part 2.

Hello again,

Last week we dived into helping you get started on clarity for living your best life and understanding your passion. And today I’m going to take you deeper into the creative opportunities that will help you get there.

I like to refer to your personal passion as your personal truth. Trust me, it’s in that heart of yours and once you understand it, say “hello” to it, from your inner self, you’ll get curious about how you can develop it.

But I want you to know, first of all, that it takes some introspection.

So here’s how I suggest you start. Coming from a place of who you were as a child, ask yourself what you were most excited about. Sit quietly and listen for your answers. Now, can you re-connect with these dreams as an adult? What would that look like for you?

Years ago when I was in India I met Janet Attwood, the author of the best selling book, The Passion Test. I’ve never forgotten her advice to those of us who are seeking to live out our passions in life.

“When you are clear, what you want will show up in your life, but only to the extent that you are clear.” Janet Attwood, The Passion Test

I recommend that as you work on reviving or clarifying your passion you “stay loose” with this journey. It’s what I call Free Range thinking. In reality, it’s not really thinking at all, because when we think, we start editing in our minds. You don’t want to do that. It’s more just letting things be…reviewing your past person, being open to new ideas for the future.

For me, I started out wanting to be an actress when I was a teenager. I’m still fulfilling some of that passion through speaking publicly for women’s inspiration and motivation. Yet I’ve added my own personal coaching to help women around the world recognize their dreams and passions they haven’t actualized.

Me at 15 years old…I wanted to be an actress.

My passion changed but not really! Let’s just say it adapted to the woman I am today. I’m still an actress when I speak to audiences that want to hear my message, but I added my deep love of helping other women into my life’s work.

Don’t Bury YOU- you matter

Do you ever feel like your passions and dreams get buried under all the responsibilities you take on? Do you find your passionate plans from the inside of you, your true self, have gotten lost over the years? Are you a victim of too little time and too much to do so you don’t have the opportunity to do the things you really want to do or be the person you thought you would be at this time in life?

We’re gonna work together to fix that.

So with the understanding that your passion is your personal truth, I suggest you start with this exercise.

  1. Get a blank piece of paper and a pen. Start writing at random what you are or might be passionate about. What are things you love that you haven’t done yet? Try to get to at least 20 things! Don’t edit yourself…you can do that later. Just write what you would love to do if you could…(we’ll talk later about how you REALLY CAN!)
  2. Don’t do anything else today. Just let it be. Let this simmer for a while and you don’t even necessarily need to think about it. If you do, fine. If you don’t that’s fine, too.

That’s it. You may add or delete at random or you may not even touch the list for the next week. I’ll be back with what we do with this list. That’s part 3…it’s a process.</p

Hint: It’s about PRACTICE.

Here’s my book on finding your way and women’s stories who have done it.
