Change from the Inside Out.

My friend, Jane, used insight to change a habit she’d had for most of her life. And she made it happen from the inside out!

She had the habit of always pleasing others. Jane would be angry at herself and angry at friends and family, who often requested much of her time for their own needs. Many times she didn’t want to do it, yet it was easier to say yes. But that meant that Jane would take the feelings and frustrations “inside,” which wasn’t healthy for her. By recognizing that it was unhealthy, she began thinking from the way she saw herself from the inside out about why she needs to please everyone. Over time it was clear. She got the insight she needed for change. Now Jane listens to her body and her brain. She says “no” when it isn’t right for her to say “yes.”

Insight is an essential skill that can change your life. And when you take the time to gain clarity through personal insight, your life can find a new direction, solve a problem, create a new beginning or take a piece of your world and understand it better.

Insight changes you from the inside out. When you have a deep, personal understanding, you see a new truth that naturally and effortlessly affects your behavior.

The impact insight can bring to your life isn’t necessarily a significant turning point or a complete paradigm change, yet it could be. It can also get you to understand perhaps a limited belief about yourself, a new way of looking at a relationship, or even possibly knowing that you want to do something more with your life.

Sometimes insights come on subtly. They can be small. It’s not just that you might not have a huge “aha” kind of experience; you might not even realize you had an insight at all until your behavior changes. Or life starts to feel different in some subtle ways.

The thing about insight is that you don’t need to work hard at it. There’s no need to analyze, that’s too much pressure, and for some, finding insight then becomes work. So instead, see if you can let these and other new ideas wash over you with little judgment and evaluation. With a less active mind, you’re likely to hear things you wouldn’t otherwise hear. And the information will have more impact.
